Context & Problem
- Winding Tree developed a brand in 2017 for the ICO. Since then much has changed internally and externally, and the community has signaled that there is a clear need to give the Winding Tree brand a major over-hall. However, some attempts to re-brand Winding Tree into WIN have been criticised by the community, as the approach was sudden and did not provide much space for community feedback and contribution.
- More specifically, for the Stays Amsterdam launch in April a quick brand was developed; win.so, with the idea that we are creating a marketplace that creates a win-win situation for both sides and that WIN could be short for Winding Tree Innovation Network. WIN DAO would be the over-arching body of the ecosystem and win.so the services marketplace search engine developed by WIN “DAO.”
Solution
- The decision has been to create a process for re-branding Winding Tree that includes more stakeholders. This process can be re-used to brand projects within the ecosystem such as ORGiD, Stays, Videre etc.
- this process should provide a more methodical approach in the brand creation process
- decide wheter the direction taken with the name and brand elements of WIN should be kept or dropped altogether

- Winding Tree aims to structure itself into a DAO, which includes many different projects aiming to decentralize all types of marketplaces. The aim is to create a brand for Winding Tree as the over-arching DAO that can connect with its vision and mission.
- As Winding Tree is one of the main blockchain projects in travel and has historical visual identity with partners, the aim is to maintain elements of the original brand.
- The process should include all parts of the community at all steps of the way, not only in giving feedback but in contributing to the brand development process.
